I bought 2 of these books for my grandchildren for Christmas. So, I gave 4 stars because I don't know what they will think of the book. But my secret is that I read the book before giving it to them. Is that allowed for a gift? I don't know, but I liked the book, so I am pretty sure they will too. A good purchase!
The part about his holy life and accomplishments is great. I am glad that the canonization was included but probably too much. I am giving it to my grandchildren ages 11 and 13. They will understand and enjoy reading about the teenage saint. I know that I have learned a lot about his wonderful, spiritual life and the good example that he has set for all of us.
I love this book! I knew I should buy it. I can't wait to share it with my two grandchildren.
I am ashamed to admit that I had previously suspected that Blessed Carlo’s sanctity was being overblown in an attempt to give the world its first ‘millennial saint.‘ Reading this book proved me wrong. I was instantly captivated by the story of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who was born the same year as my own firstborn child. As I read the incredible, uncommon life he led from infancy, my heart swelled with awe and gratitude at what the Lord had done. This young man changed everyone around him, and he changed me as well, as he has become a heavenly friend and a daily intercessor in my life. I enthusiastically recommend this remarkable book for the entire family. It may have been intended for children, but every adult in the family should read it, too!

This is a marvelous book that I bought for myself based on someone else's review. I am middle-aged with no children in the home and I have to say I learned so much! It gives me the words to teach adults, which is what I do. This book is suitable for all - young and not so young alike Excellent read about a fascinating saint to be.
I bought this for a third grader in my religious education class. He has been kind of disinterested in learning about different saints all year, despite discussing them in class all year. My student loves soccer and our city recently got a pro soccer team. Carlo is a perfect fit! My student is eager to read about him. The book itself is beautiful- the pages feel like those costing much more. And the information inside is golden. Thanks for offering this story of the life of an amazing teen for kids.
I purchased 2 --one as an Easter gift for a young teen girl and one for myself to read. I loved it! The book is so much better written than traditional "lives of the saints" and should have great appeal for its intended younger audience. I appreciated the inclusion of information about the process of declaring a holy person a saint and the explanation about relics.
I had also bought both the Bl. Carlo books I saw on your store and read them to myself, sharing excepts and details with the family at dinner. My youngest daughter read portions of the kids' Bl. Carlo book. Now my two younger daughters and I are all aflame with fresh zeal and inspiration to strive for sanctity with all our might! I had slipped away from daily Mass, just going once a week during the week, but now I'm back to multiple times a week because of his example. My 9 and 11 year girls are all in, volunteering to go to daily Mass more often with me because they want to, even when I made it optional for them. Carlo Acutis is the perfect saint for the modern person. Though he lived before the arrival of the smart phone, Carlo grew up with the internet, Pokémon, and Spider-Man. He enjoyed watching TV with his family, playing video games, and spending time with his pet dogs. In some ways, his life seems perfectly normal. His life doesn’t sound that different from my own. Or my kids’ lives. And yet he is a canonized saint.
I absolutely loved reading “Blessed Carlo Acutis.” As I read through stories of his childhood, I couldn’t help but imagine my own childhood alongside his. He was born only three years after me after all. We were both children before the age of widespread internet use, but by the time we were in high school, computers in homes were becoming much more common and many children had their own cell phones. Carlo also reminds me of my own children. They will grow up in the age of smart phones, high speed internet, and social media, but they are also growing up watching Pokémon and dressing up as Spider-Man for Halloween (just like Carlo did). I can’t help but look at Blessed Carlo Acutis and see myself and my children in him.
“Blessed Carlo Acutis” was inspiring, and I would encourage anyone who has ever wondered what the road to sainthood looks like in the twenty-first century. Carlo’s life in general, and his eight-step guide to becoming saints in particular, offer practical tips for the modern man, woman, or child desiring to become a saint. Filled with sweet anecdotes provided by the people who knew and loved him best, “Blessed Carlo Acutis” is a great addition to any family’s library of saints’ biographies.
Learning the story of Carlo Acutis through this beautifully written and engaging book is an absolute blessing. This book is very visually appealing and provides information about Carlo Acutis that inspires you to be more holy, while also providing you accounts of his interests and life that make you feel as if you really know Carlo, making it easy to feel as if he is your heavenly friend. Blessed Carlo Acutis gives us all a wonderful example of how to live for God in modern times. This relatable teenager is truly loved in my household, and I look forward to sharing this book with my Faith Formation students this summer. What I liked about the book:
- Very well written, easy to understand, and will be a great read for all ages pre-teen and up.
- Motivational: brought young Carlo and his devotion to the Eucharist to life.
- Lots of photographs: we live in a visual age and photos of Carlo and his family added to the book.
- Quotes by Carlo that help to see his spirituality and the life that he lived.
- Has nothing to do with the writing, but I liked the small size of the book…easy to put in a pocket or purse and, in my case, great to take along to Adoration. What better place to read about Carlo Acutis and his devotion to the Eucharist?
What I didn’t like about the book:
- Hard to find anything not to like about this book. Only one thing, really, and that has nothing to do with the way the book was written. The book starts off with information about the process of becoming a saint. Considering that this is a book about the life of Carlo Acutis, I don’t know why the editor or publisher chose to put this at the beginning of the book. The second-to-last section of the book is “What comes next?”….and that would seem the most logical place to put the information about becoming a saint. And that would flow in to the final section on the process of Carlo Acutis becoming a saint, which I think this was a great addition to the book, since it allows the reader a blueprint of the process as it relates to Carlo.
I really enjoyed this book and would say this comes under the category of a “must read” for people of all ages, but especially teenagers and probably pre-teens as well. It is an easy read, packed with information and highly inspirational. Great to add to your summer reading list.
I ordered the book and CD for my grandkids. It came today and I read it straight through!! AMAZING! What a wonderful example for our children and ourselves. I’m ordering a few more books to share.

This story of the brief but beautiful life of Blessed Carlo Acutis captures children and adults as it unfolds with details about this teen saint's relatable and inspirational life, death, and cause for sainthood. In text and photos, we see Carlo as an everyday kid with favorite pets, a passion for computer programming, a love for film making, and a host of struggles and successes. We also get to know his inspirational side - his Eucharistic devotion, his respect for others, his charity work, his virtues, his acceptance of God's will, and the miracles that have been attributed to him.
Further, the book includes information on how and why the Church investigates who is in Heaven, what some of Carlo's favorite sayings were, Carlo's "kit" for becoming a saint, and more.
Well-written and put together, the book is more than just a saint biography that captures the attention of children and adults alike. It IS that, but it is also a wonderful window into causes for sainthood, prayers, devotions, relics, saints, and more.
Having just had my youngest prepare for and receive Confirmation, I wish I had had this book a year ago. I think Confirmandi would definitely benefit from reading it and I recommend it for others who are preparing for Confirmation.
I would also recommend the book for homeschool families, Catholic teachers and students, and just about anyone who would like to learn more about an inspiring modern day saint who inspires love for the Eucharist.

This book is a masterpiece of saint's life writing! Blessed Carlo comes alive through the pictures on every page, the interviews with his mother, and the details of his beatification! The best part of this boy's life is the tone that the author and how she connects with her audience. Her tone has a maturity and respect for the reader that also teaches and informs at every point. Blessed Carlo literally lives and breathes in the pages of this book!
Blessed Carlo Acutis was a remarkable young man. I knew this prior to reading this book, but I do not think I realized just how exceptional he really is. I use "is" here because the book is such a strong reminder that he is alive in Heaven and interacting with people here on Earth. From his miracle curing the pancreas of Mattheus in Brazil to the birth of his twin siblings on the second anniversary of his death, Blessed Carlo shows us that here in spirit he still cares for the people here as much -- or more -- than he did when he was still here in the flesh. The book itself is put together very well, such that it is suitable for a variety of age groups. Although it can be easily used in an elementary school classroom, the additional text and translated documents also make it suitable for middle and even high school students. As an adult, I found it interesting and informative, but not at all dry. After reading the book, I feel as if I know Blessed Carlo and will add him to the special group of Saints to whom I have devotions.
